SOME BIRDS ARE NOT TO BE CAGED

“Some birds are not meant to be caged, that's all. Their feathers are too bright, their songs too sweet and wild. So you let them go, or when you open the cage to feed them they somehow fly out past you. And the part of you that knows it was wrong to imprison them in the first place rejoices, but still, the place where you live is that much more drab and empty for their departure.”

Stephen King, Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption: A Story from Different Seasons

I couldn’t think of lines any where closer to what I have quoted above.  With dreams so lucid and dramas so dramatic, clashes among the different schools of thought are obvious. You know not who wins but you can’t stop trying! You deserve to fly and kiss the sky!

Talk about fashion and talk about inspiration. Neon feathers depict the exaggerated desire to stay high and soar up in the sky. They seem to be both- high on trend and high on passion.

And trust me, this feeling never dies!

P.S.- I thank Boticca and Indian Fashion Bloggers for the pretty neon accessory I got from a contest they ran a while back. :)

ZEBRA-CROSSED

I walk daily. I walk a lot daily. And it came across one day while I stood quiet waiting for the traffic to stop. The zebra crossing.
Sudden focus at the imagery in front of my eyes made a spontaneous connection to the stripes people wearing around. Aha! Things are omnipresent. You just gotta to observe them.

I have been spotting the classiness of stripes in and out everywhere since then. Moreover, realizing the fact that fashion is embracing them as a hot trend right now, I got more captivated by the simplicity and necessity of zebra crossing that we overlook  and cross daily. And I got zebra-crossed!

All said and done, without colors.
Have you ever been zebra crossed?

A PLAYFUL SIDE OF TRADITIONS

We all love the quirkiness of graphics. To elaborate, I take your yes in agreeing with the idea of adoring colorful  kitschy and playful graphics on tees, cushions, bags, accessories, stationary, coffee mugs etc. After all, colors are what that makes the scene funky and happy-going. So, what if this idea mixes with the traditional attire of Indian women. The sari. This implies that saris would be graphical too. They will be colorful  quirky graphical and playful.

That’s exactly what Play Clan did. Known for quirky graphics in their wide range of products, Play Clan recently launched a collection of saris called “The Play Clan Sari Edition” at the Will India Fashion Week for spring/summer 2013.

Welding neon and playfulness in Indian characters, tribal looks, neon-ised geometry and phulkari,  the saris are no more just a boring six-yard long garment after their post-fluorescent treatment. The younger generation now has reasons to get into the tradition attire. Besides, there are smarter ways to style them as Play Clan highlights them in their shoot. Have a look at their collection. They can be bought from their online store at Rs. 14995/-. Totally worth it!

PERFECTLY SUSPENDED

I'm standing outside my house
Kissing the sunshine aloud.
Waiting for the moment to arrive
Pick me up and take me to a dive.

Waited long
Couldn’t find a clue.
I thought- I should just move on
Too much life is due.

I got things to do
That I don’t even know.
I have smiles to give
As a part of my show.

So, with my glasses on
To see the details
With my earphones plugged in
To ignore the trails

I walk along
to places unintended
It feels great
To see everything apprehended.

I have things to do
That I don’t even know.
But, I think I am perfectly suspended
For the show.

Perfectly Suspended- Style Interpretation
The theme I took up this time defines androgyny. Suspenders were originally worn by businesspersons and bankers as they dealt with important businesses. Paired up with geeky glasses and a bow tie carry the suspension perfectly. Listening to music humming in through the earphones is an influence of the modern day tastes of interests and the work etiquette people follow.
Suspenders today are acknowledged as both casual and formal wear. Either carry them on a shirt or maybe under a jacket. Add some geeky glasses onto it and wear high-waist trousers with it. A bow tie maybe for an exaggerating geeky look might give your suspenders look a bounce.
Go for them and go all suspended.

DRESS WITH NO RULES- MEN

Clothing styles have evolved, intersected and influenced our breathe today. With a growing liberal attitude, there hardly seems to be a rule-book made which defines dress codes for us. Be it men or women, everything is loved if it looks good on you. The important thing about it is- you look good when you are comfortable in it.

Roaming around the streets of Bangalore, I could sense liberty by the way men dress today. The mantra is being confident and comfortable. I could not feel anything but happy to explore so many interesting men who gave up looking for high fashion and instead made them a brand.

Accessorizing beard with beads, tattoos on the body, men carrying raw totes with loud messages on them, wearing printed shirts, decking in leather vests and bags, printed pants nowhere close to the blue and black stripes or checks... These were the finds of liberal men.

The expression of connecting fashion with the self- not influenced by the trends or forecasts, but by the inner soul. You might love music or you might hum mantras, you might practise yoga or you  might be a lazy ass- each character shall be expressed uninfluenced.
