STYLE STATEMENT - The true identity.

Last weekend was a day of consuming a high dose of fashion. Not exactly just fashion, but style! To be even more precise, let us call them style statements!

We might chant high mantras of heels, breathe trends inside out, exercise fashionably and do all the gumptious tasks to look beautiful, but what matters is the expression of your inner self. Hence, style statements take away the charm. When God intentionally created each of us so distinct, he made it sure that everyone of us gets to define his own statement in style.

The way she feels about leather, its texture and the smell or the texture and touch of faux leather stands her inside strength out. There is hope around every corner and so the eyes carry those wings. The moment those coral nails see the golden bird flying out of the ring, it relates to me as drenching into freshwater corals, if there are any! When you are confident, enough to stay on one side and everyone else takes the other side, those hair give you support. Also, there is a statement of style wherein she shows her geekiness not because she is geeky with the materialistic thoughts but because she is geeky with the immaterialistic emotions.

A ton thanks to Ruhi, Rhea, Ritu, Megha and Tamanna for posing and not posing. :)

DRESS WITH NO RULES- MEN

Clothing styles have evolved, intersected and influenced our breathe today. With a growing liberal attitude, there hardly seems to be a rule-book made which defines dress codes for us. Be it men or women, everything is loved if it looks good on you. The important thing about it is- you look good when you are comfortable in it.

Roaming around the streets of Bangalore, I could sense liberty by the way men dress today. The mantra is being confident and comfortable. I could not feel anything but happy to explore so many interesting men who gave up looking for high fashion and instead made them a brand.

Accessorizing beard with beads, tattoos on the body, men carrying raw totes with loud messages on them, wearing printed shirts, decking in leather vests and bags, printed pants nowhere close to the blue and black stripes or checks... These were the finds of liberal men.

The expression of connecting fashion with the self- not influenced by the trends or forecasts, but by the inner soul. You might love music or you might hum mantras, you might practise yoga or you  might be a lazy ass- each character shall be expressed uninfluenced.

Cheers

FOR THE LOVE OF COMICS!

com·ic/ˈkämik/
A book, which every child reads without being told.
A word of which the meaning they do not actually know.

I take it as default that all of you have grown up reading comics in your childhood. I recall my brother eating up bundles of Nagraj, Doga, Chacha Chaudhary, Billoo, Super commando Dhruv, Vikram aur Betal and many more while lazing around during summer vacations. I could just understand Pinky then! :/

The Transition- from comic strips to everywhere
Ever wondered how beautiful it is to realise the existence of comic characters in this kinetic world. Graphics and technology has taken this childhood memoir to a completely new level. The Spiderman can jump up and down the buildings to save lives in the movies and you can play as Mario to rescue Princess Peach in the X box. Depiction of the Chitra-Katha in the super-coolest way!
Whatever age we are in, the comic genre would always interest us.

Comic Con India held an exhibition in Bangalore this weekend in lieu of promotion and preservation of comics and graphic arts. I got a chance to meet all my childhood comic crushes. Besides, a pool of some geniuses with their unique ways to depicting stories through graphics.

Love for mooches, Indian humor, characters from Ramayana and Mahabharata, the pirates of the Caribbean and all hallucinating colors depicted through different mediums of graphics – a motley of all the fantasy, adventure, power and fun one could ever think of. No wonder, graphics is the new generation. Conor McCreery once quoted, ‘Comics are not a genre. They are a medium that encompasses every genre.’

The dictionary meanings of COMIC.
Encounters with Shiva, G.I.Joe and the pirate of the Caribbean.

Joker smiles the deadly style.
People spotted wearing clothes and accessories inspired from Comics and Graphic art.
Various graphics and illustrations on a notebook, bag and tee shirts.
Comes back the love for mustaches! Moochi moochi love. Turns out, its just not me!
Here is my Childhood crush- the Super Mario
Look what I explored- Dora the Explorer!

THE MAN WITH THE PINK BEARD!

Yeah, the title may sound too much of a fictional one, but it isn't!
have a look-

After finishing the inelegant lunch at office, we thought of having a walk till Sigma mall (Ruchika was crying for an ice-cream actually! ) and I saw a glimpse of this man! He was going towards the parking lot and I could just wish to go to him and ask for a picture! Thanks to Ashika for accompanying (who more than the help wanted to see the drama  which takes place when the man doesn't understand what I want- a picture for my silly blog! :P) And yeah Siddhanth's phone for the capture!

And, so we went to him. I talked; explained what I wanted his picture for not speaking out loud "the pink beard" at all. To our amaze, he agreed and this is what he said, " My name is Ranjon Ghoshal with an O; and you can Google me! "

I clicked, thanked and came back. Obviously googled him and found a Wikipedia page of the man!
Turns out, he runs an advertisement agency called Mareech, has a theater group call the Forum Three and is the founder member of Bangla band called Moheener Ghoraguli.
The page says, Ranjon's home in Bangalore, The Yellow Submarine, is a focal point for a number of intellectuals and artists in the city.

A man's creativity shows up right from his face!
I could re-frame
A man's creativity shows up right from his beard!

That's the story of the man with the pink beard!
Was nice to meet you sir!

Hope the readers like it!

MOVEMBER- THE MOUSTACHE NOVEMBER!

Dudes, its MOVEMBER- a moustache growing charity event held during November each year. Apparently you start the month clean-shaven and end it with a moustache, raising “money and awareness about male health issues” on the way.

And pinch me on this. This game has got its own rules!
  • You must begin the 1st of November with a clean shaven face.(better late than never)
  • You grow/groom a moustache for the entire month of November.
  • No joining of the mo to your sideburns.
  • No joining of the handlebars to your chin (that is considered a goatee).
  • You must conduct yourself as a true country gentleman.

This is so cool. well, it started for a cause and because it fun, they do gain a lot out of the event. The event was conceived in 1999 by a group of Australian men from Melbourne. It is also known as "Novembeard". Since 2004, the Movember Foundation charity has run Movember events to raise awareness and funds for men's health issues, such as prostate cancer and depression, in Australia and New Zealand. And since then, it has spread around the world. Just to make you realize the loudness - Over 15.2 million dollars were raised by Canada alone in 2010 which made it ahead of all other countries participating in the campaign including Australia where this campaign began seven years ago (as stated here).

People around the world have their own inspiring icons and they grow their own epic moustaches! Who could have thought to go back into the 80's fashion?? Who knew just growing of some facial hair would lead to a global movement?

From Salvador Dali(the surrealist), Charlie Chaplin(the comedian), John Waters(film maker/actor), Sam Elliot(actor), Tom Selleck(actor)(ooh..remember Monica's BF from Friends?), Genghis Khan(the Mongolian warrior), Hulk Hogan(the wrestler), Che Guevara(the revolutionary) John Hogdman(apple's PC guy) ....to our Indian mustache men like Raj Kapoor, Pran, Raaj Kumar, Udham Singh, Mehmood, Amol Palekar, Shatrugan Sinha, Amitabh Bachchan, Danny Denzongpa, Anil Kapoor.....the swish Kapil Dev, the decoit Veerappan, or the politician Lal Krishna Advani....all have been recognized in their own mustache way!

How unique can you men be by keeping your facial hair in your way!Naaice!
Good luck to Movember!
