Stills from a Silent Saga

When you get bored of the hustling city and start finding the workplace over-dramatic, when the clock seems to tick as slow as a sloth and the sky doesn't show up any sunshine,
.
..
...
pack your bags and RUN!
P.S- Don't forget to carry your camera!
That's what I did over the weekend. An overnight journey from Bangalore and you reach on a land where there is sea, sun and sand. And so started the silent saga. Meeting new people, doting on a different cuisine, wandering over cozy empty streets, lusting over new finds and expressing gratitude to the sun. A feeling when you know that you won't run into any face seen before, instead you would see people with faces that never grow old, smiles that never wash away and spirit that blows with the wind along the seashore.

One good thing about going somewhere you have never been to, you can discover some great places by yourself <apart from the ones overheard or google-researched>
A place called L'e Space near M.G. road was one of a kind that communicated a raw yet soothing aura depicted some mysterious fluency- from abstract human paintings on walls and chairs to a Chinese kettle hanging right up your head, a hidden Buddha statue under the roof, a wooden bear looking at you from behind the leaves and many more that I am yet to discover in my next visit.
P.S.- Lemme know if you find the 'hidden' Buddha statue in any of the pictures! :)

Loving the chair's back!
A broken stained glass frame becomes a back support of a chair. :)
Finds at various places- cafes, restaurants and boutiques.

Sri Aurobindo's graffiti
Lights dimming at night at L'e Space
Yes, I do love Pondy!

So, the last few days of the year ended with a charming experience. Have a happy new year everyone and if nothing else, resolute to visit plenty of new places this year. :)

Cheers

READY FOR TANGO?

KEYWORD- TANGERINE

People! Time for getting in your shoes and do the Tango!
Pantone color Institute has announced Tango Tangerine as the color of the year 2012.

Roses need not be red now! Orange roses suggest a deeper love affair.
                                                                                                               - Vogue, January 2012

Chosen because of its “sophisticated and dramatic undertones,” Tangerine Tango (Pantone 17-1463) is a continuation of last year’s winner, Honeysuckle (Pantone 18-2120). The 2011 winner was said to be “inspiration to face life’s everyday troubles with verve and vigour,” with Tangerine Tango building off of that by giving an “energy charge” to move forward. Pretty dramatic language, but these people take their colours seriously.

Seems like its a mixture of emotions and reactions and observations! A marriage of the adrenaline rush of red and the warmth of yellow!

Let’s have a look at the tangerine mood and some tips/looks to show how you can use the colour to discharge its prominence or make it your accent! Colors are picked up from fashion, film, technology, art, popular travel destination, and “other socio-economic conditions.”

Tangerine is being picked up by fashion influencers and young consumers. Brands like Tommy Hilfiger, Christopher Kane, Mark Fast, Hermès, Dior, Marc Jacobs Nanette Lepore and Elie Tahari have shown the love for tangerine in their SS12 collections.

Elie Tahari  SS12 Collection
  • Tangerine stands out when used with white and black. So, it shows effectiveness in posters, signs etc. Its used as a point of sale to attract attention and make more of a fashion statement than using red, yellow or brasher alternatives.
  • MAKE-UP lovers, don’t worry, you’ll get something for your lips, nails and cheeks too. The color is rushing all over the fashion domain.
  • Check out how you can get inspired to wear the dramatic color-
When paired with brown, it brings out an amber cast.

It has a deeper, more complex aspect than the more obvious brash pop colors.

Use it to dress fun, enticing and exotic windows

  •  If you still feel, its too much of a color, you can always go for accessories in tangerine with subtle shades in clothes! Be it bags or shoes or jewelry pieces.

    TEAPOTS WITH A TWIST

British Silversmith David Clarke is known for re-creating the existing things with a twist.

    RE-DECORATE; RE-FUNCTION; RE-APPROPRIATE; RE-DESIGN; RE-COMBINATION;
    RE-DEFINE

All the original teapots are purchased from ebay, where clarke notes: 'I only bid on the most unwanted, most unloved; the ones closest to the [garbage] bin. I only buy the one that no one desires. I want to give them a new start in life, a second chance. they come to me; I study them, handle them; I cut them almost surgically, with precision, accuracy, and focus. at this point they are released from their history; they are free to start afresh.'

This recent series of modified teapots has been exhibited in  ornamentum gallery during miami design week 2011.

Cool! I would have painted them in quirky colors if I could buy any of these!
Recently in a flea market I saw those colorful teapots!

    ISHTYLE BOLLYWOOD!

My first Keyword project post finally! After a work-allergy breakdown!
Much thanks to Kriti  (my college junior/ last days shelter provider) who filled me with this idea of the first post!
Well, I am sharing her recent "random zeher (an idea/picture/thought/caricature/artwork that causes reputation-al injury, illness or death of a living organism) - her poster making work" :P

Applauds for the creativity Kriti! :)
The posters are made in a typical Bollywood ishtyle  involving elements of quirkiness, vintage feel and with the mainly declaring the subject some (A) movie kind! What connects best to me and other college fellows is that the characters on the posters are real and non-fictional!  haha cant say about the subjects! :P

And the heroes( may be villains) are Arjun, Arpit and Anup!

    BLOOMING BABE ;)

And I finally caught her this time. Meet Deepika, a colleague at my workplace. Gaush, I feel so great thinking how lucky I am to work in a design studio where I can find people all dressed up. But, I tell you, its so tough to convince them. And yeah, you can never ignore the jests coming along with it. In this case, they talked about how Deepika woke up and came straight to the office in her pajamas. lol...I totally disagree.

A perfect splash of color over the top and a totally blooming bottom makes me think of a relaxed time. All fun with work at the workplace. Her shoes come along so colorful. Totally a blooming babe! mmm... Some vintage holidaying gal! or engrossed in creativity..or blooming with ideas!!

WHEN IT'S COLD AND YOU HAVE TO PARTY! ;)

    Literally a Story for Chictopia!
You see, I would obviously sit in my pajamas covering myself with more than one blankets! But, just in case! :P

"I feel too cold. And all I want in winters is to feel cozy under layers of clothes and sheets. But, what when its a party in the holidays. You have to go cause its holidays and you already are wondering how chilled the air would be outside! Thank God, I opened my rare clothes-case and found this beautiful leather patchwork-batwing top. Paired it up with black leggings and a hot pink skirt, accessorized with a clock necklace, jumped into my boots and I am all set to party all night!"

    OK..the details now
The awesome top: VInatge street shop from australia, Got it at a dirt cheap rate!...Thanks to my mom's bargaining lessons! :P
The hot hot hot pink skirt: my friend Hayley gifted me while I was returning back to India. Her own label SPARKLETRAMP CLOTHING

Well, I have been thinking a lot on bringing this blog closer to you guys with more of the DIY and inspirational contents rather than putting up some fashion week news. OK, even if sometimes I do that, please don't mind! I would surely add up some detail to make that post more faithful. ;)

so, its about doing something to your denims this time.
