SCATTER SHELF BY NENDO

The scatter shelf is composed of 5mm black acrylic shelves in a grid form, stacked in three layers and slightly displaced. The resulting shelving unit is not only structurally strong but creates a visual effect in which objects placed on the shelves appear as though caught in a spider’s web when viewed from the front. When viewed on an angle, the glossy acrylic face creates a series of reflections within the shelves, making the ‘opaque’ acrylic appear to be transparent. The diffused reflections caused by the surfaces’ shine and form also separates and scatters the view behind the shelving unit, creating a completely kaleidoscopic effect.

how cool is that?!!

FROM ME TO YOU TO BACK TO YOU!!

I breathed the sun rays,
I carved thy name in the wet sand.
I waved the singing mystique passing me,
I watered thy sapling sheltered under me!

It was natural
It was carefree
It was rooted from you.
It was pleasant and it was faithful
It all belonged to you.

As pretty as green I look to the far,
So as worthy as bountiful you sure are!

From you to me to back to you!

BLACK AND WHITE AND BLUE!

A simple day. A simple outfit.
A touch of blue,
to the colorless hue.

A simple day. A simple outfit.
A sense of depth
to the faith I kept.

A simple day. A simple outfit.
A joy of a few
to cherish as a dew.

A simple day. A simple outfit.
Its all about
black and white and blue!

BLOOMING BABE ;)

And I finally caught her this time. Meet Deepika, a colleague at my workplace. Gaush, I feel so great thinking how lucky I am to work in a design studio where I can find people all dressed up. But, I tell you, its so tough to convince them. And yeah, you can never ignore the jests coming along with it. In this case, they talked about how Deepika woke up and came straight to the office in her pajamas. lol...I totally disagree.

A perfect splash of color over the top and a totally blooming bottom makes me think of a relaxed time. All fun with work at the workplace. Her shoes come along so colorful. Totally a blooming babe! mmm... Some vintage holidaying gal! or engrossed in creativity..or blooming with ideas!!

KARAKURI: THE ANCIENT ROBOTICS

Karakuri from Matthew Allard on Vimeo.

Japan has always been on the forefront of cutting edge robotics. Its roots can be traced back 200-300 years during the Edo period when skilled craftsmen created automata (self-operating machines). Using nothing more than pulleys and weights they were able to make the Karakuri (Japanese automata) perform amazing tasks. Japans modern day robots can be traced back to the Karakuri. Today Hideki Higashino is one of the few remaining craftsmen who is determined to keep the history and tradition of Japanese Karakuri alive.
Information source here.

No wonder, Japan has been known as an intellectually sufficed nation and still withholds its identity. The Tsunami- earthquake disaster of March'11 has although taken much from it.

WHEN IT'S COLD AND YOU HAVE TO PARTY! ;)

Literally a Story for Chictopia!
You see, I would obviously sit in my pajamas covering myself with more than one blankets! But, just in case! :P

"I feel too cold. And all I want in winters is to feel cozy under layers of clothes and sheets. But, what when its a party in the holidays. You have to go cause its holidays and you already are wondering how chilled the air would be outside! Thank God, I opened my rare clothes-case and found this beautiful leather patchwork-batwing top. Paired it up with black leggings and a hot pink skirt, accessorized with a clock necklace, jumped into my boots and I am all set to party all night!"

OK..the details now
The awesome top: VInatge street shop from australia, Got it at a dirt cheap rate!...Thanks to my mom's bargaining lessons! :P
The hot hot hot pink skirt: my friend Hayley gifted me while I was returning back to India. Her own label SPARKLETRAMP CLOTHING
is just amazing. Do stop by the link!
More Photos of the skirt to be uploaded soon! :)
A clock vintage-style pendant chain from Diva! (i guess)

Is'nt it just amazing?
well, I found this here and you can have these pretty nails too. All you need is alchohol...haha...yes!! :P and a piece of newspaper and of course nail-paint!

1. Put on nail polish and let dry.
2. Dip fingernail in alcohol-basically any will do, vodka is suggested.
3. Press a strip of newspaper big enough to cover the whole nail on to your alcohol soaked nail.
4. Pull off slowly and be really impressed with yourself.
5. Paint top coat if desired.

Done...:)

I Don't Have To See You Every Day- SHE AND HIM!

She & Him - Don't Look Back from Merge Records on Vimeo.

Remember the girl from 500 days of summer. Zooey Deschanel! I can't figure out why I like her so much!?!
I bumped into her music band: SHE AND HIM with M. Ward, while reading the clothe's horse.
Zooey writes the lyrics and is the female singer in there.
Apart from the off-beat music, I love the retro styling for Don't Look Back!

SODA UNBOTTLED

It is normal if you wonder why I named this post as ‘Soda Unbottled’. Nothing like that stands out from her outfit though! Well, her name is Sai Sangeet Paliwal and she has her own label for home furnishings named SODA UNBOTTLED!

I met her on a Sunday at one of my fav hangout places in Bangalore. Turns out she graduated from NIFT ages ago (doesn’t seem like that, does it?) and opened up her label in 2007. Check out her facebook page here.
I feel like aiming at one shot and nailing two down. Yay!!

About her style first- Electric red and blue pop out of her like the soda is unbottled. Abstract floral printed top in chiffon puts a splash of colours on her. And the blue shoes and the red bag ordinate with it.

Well, I love your style. And your label too. Checkout a few pictures I fetched from her FB page with permission. Home products like cushions, clocks, lamps etc...in the unusual SODA way:

MEN-IN-LINEN

Just when it comes to men, whether life or fashion, I JUST CAN’T THINK! Ha-ha...Well, here I can’t think of any starting note! ;)
Yes..Yes...this post goes for men! And this post goes for Linen.
Ooh, I am in love with linen and what can I say about Men in Linen :D

So..yeah..Linen (and men) talks now:
It is old and it is raw. It is rich and it is so much in fashion.
Let's just say it was the official uniform of the guys who built the pyramids. And as the granddaddy of all natural fibres, it asks for too much care as well. It's like when you buy Linen, you also buy wrinkles! There was a time, in the 1920s, linen material was reserved only for white handkerchiefs and pocket squares. And now... the time has begone! Hence
LINEN SHIRTS. LINEN PANTS. LINEN SHORTS. LINEN JACKETS. LINEN KURTAS. LINEN ..LINEN..LINEN everywhere!

And I would say it’s a MUST-HAVE in every guy’s wardrobe!
Yes, there are too many stars drawn after linen
LINEN*******
Applying so many conditions, its numerous wrinkles and the care it needs! But, guys ought to compete with girls and their heels in some way afterall!

Here are some global fashion tips to flaunt Linen:

A plain linen tee speaking for itself accessorised lightly!

A shirt- plain white is so a must have. Pair it up raw like this or wear it tightly structured over your body, ergo, you seem to show-off your linen. Think of the classic white shirt and blue denim style!

The shirt and the scarf, that's what I call Linen-love! both look good!

A striped or a checked shirt gives you another story to talk. Ohk,,yeah, it looks more cool in a texture!” the short sleeves make it apt for summers.

And as the sky is baked, the summer definitely calls for linen and the neutral colours it is famous for. Here's a basic color rule for linen outfits: colored linen shirts go with white, gray or beige linen pants; white linen shirts go with colored, gray or beige linen pants.

A kurta style in linen shows your comfort.

linen shorts- a new cool casual statement- has put the product out of your house!

And now we are seriously talking about linen. The linen suites and blazers...ooh! rumpled or settled??...neat or raw??? Classy or casual?? Your call!
Linen blazers match best with jeans, wool or linen pants of a contrasting color. When it comes to matching shirts with linen blazers, any sweater, button-down or T-shirt in a muted color will make you look good.

Its sure that linen is fashionable- the slim cuts in silhouettes for pull-overs and jackets line this.

Some brands like Paul Smith, Billy Reid, Tommy Hilfiger, Levi’s, Esprit, Allen Solly, Scullers, Urbana have come up with amazing Linen merchandise. There are many more. Yeah, summer’s gone but I tell you, Linen is awesome.
MIX AND MATCH; LIVE LARGE IN LINEN; AFTERALL, EVERYONE LOVES MEN-IN-LINEN!!
