THE GANDHIJI FONT

To celebrate the 141st anniversary of Gandhi’s birth, and to reinvigorate his vision across a new generation in India, Leo Burnett advertising agency used his famous glasses as the basis for a new, unique font, which was showcased at Cannes Lions 58th International Festival of Creativity.
Typographers from Leo Burnett advertising agency created the “Gandhiji font” in Devanagari, India. It is also being launched in English and other Indian languages. They believe that Gandhi's teachings have the power to bring back peace and love into the world. The concept of using his glasses as a basis to create a new typeface is a clever and beautiful way of continuing his legacy, creating something modern and historically relevant.
As learnt from Gandhijifont.com

Elements of the glasses are separated, rotated and scaled to create each character. The subtlety of this linear design and its minimal styling makes it fresh and modern.
There’s just no limit to inspiration in this world. A piece of spectacles gave breathe to typography. I love the quirky style use of the new temple (which rests on your ears) to create the font-style. Design has rooted itself inculcating aspects of ideologies and history. I can just say WOW!
The font can be downloaded here .

*A* STARRY* NIGHT*

'Keep your eyes on the stars, and your feet on the ground.'
-Theodore Roosevelt

My Boring schedule:
I wake up, I get ready for work, I eat my breakfast, I work, I eat lunch, I work again, I feel sleepy, I sip tea, I leave office, I enjoy my evening, I eat dinner, I watch tv, And now I wanna sleep!

now here’s the lovliest part:
Anything better than a starry night you can suggest to lie under for a substantial sleep??

I am in love with Georgia’s room. A friend of mine from Brisbane who has come to India for an exchange program to study fashion. The happy you sleep; the better you look! Now I know the reason why is Georgia so gorgeous?
She made her bed lit up with stars all over. The canopy looks like a shelter from the stars shadowing the yellow light. Aah...seems a delight when you fool around the whole day and in the end come lay down on your bed...I wonder how can anyone have insomnia??
Love the yellow light, gives a sense of warmth and tranquilization. Love the canopy altogether. Love her new head-gear...
hop on to her blog where she shares her experiences in India.

THESE RAW TREASURES...
It was years ago I visited my grandma’s house in a village called ‘Runija’. Well, I did not like the place then. All I could figure out was hens tickling my legs, vehicles passing by with a bash of dust all over the sky and no cosy chairs to relax on! And now, I never go there, well that’s cause she stays with us.
I did not know my love for fashion and lifestyle would make me love my grandma’s place today. Now I can recall all the beautiful things I missed to appreciate. Her collection of antique utensils, the thick wooden doors, the fat trunk and the giant wooden cupboards now seems so rich, raw, and beautiful over the ceramic crockery, the sleek plain closets and drawers, the glass centre-table at my home.
My next action shall be treasuring some of her articles to create raw spaces in my house. They seem so outstanding the way they are. Haven’t you been looking over the pricy stuff that they sell in the antique stores around? Well, why waste your money in those un-emotionally attached non-ancestral items when you can easily access these raw treasures with a little efforts and a little money!
How lovely these spaces look holding raw treasures and you have memories attached to them...! Ah..So vintage, so charming!
I am in love with the sewing machine make-over.Then, there are cupboards and trunks and the use of old mirrors...Either go with a raw wall or the raw treasures or both, they speak for themselves! Living room; outdoors, corridors, corners of houses..Wherever it suits you!

TREND ON TOES: THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT

THE BUTTERFLY

ACCESSORIES: BAG; HAIRCLIP

TOP: BANDRA STREET SHOP; BOTTOMS: DOCKERS; BELT: ZARA; SHOES: MOM

So, heres a butterfly effect! I seriously didnt think about any butterfly while I was shooting Cauvery this time. But, looking at those pictures again and again on my desktop- its caught me!...simple silhoutte, fast dress up, splashy color, wing-like sleeves she seems to be flying (away from the office :P)....

I am wondering how edgy can solid colors make you look. Just another day its an altogether new outfit. And she had mixed it all up so beautifully- the butterfly hairpin, plaited hair the shiny bag and yeah...the Shoes...says they are her moms...well..they have worked well to get into a butterfly's feets. ;)

THE NAMING CEREMONY

Believe me, it was the toughest task and unlike some lucky bastards, this wasn’t spontaneous!
The idea of blogging was long settled in my mind and I had a bunch of usual names in my head- you know: fashionbook, fashion blog, fashion and style ..bla bla bla. But when it was time, I just couldn’t write these words to name my blog.
I wanted something sexy, stylish, unique, bold, chic, fashionable, catchy, interesting, ambiguous, fun, conversational, flowy, active, malleable, ductile, appropriate, fascinating, flamboyant, curious, easy, combined, frivolous etc…(can’t stop praising it :p)
The idea was to be on the safer side, because I have no clue where I will drive this blog for years to come! So, I’ve kept as many options open as I can to hop from one to another! :D
Well, for the naming ceremony I bugged my brother and some of my friends who found it extremely entertaining to help me.

Influence of studying in Gujarat, hanging around with friends from marketing background, and having a brother who is an engineer!
Well, people having confusion with the suffix can simply read this (http://languagelog.ldc.upenn.edu/nll/?p=2108).

TREND ON TOES: THE FIRST ATTACK

My very first attack :D
Thanks to Cauvery! So, what do you reckon out of her look?
High waisted denims paired up with a plain tee and a floral jumper.Probably my love for vintage made me catch her first. Well, I recall the high waist denims from the time of Marilyn Monroe. They called it the MISFITS ERA of 1960s from her movie THE MISFITS. These hot denims came back in 2005 seen on Scarlett Johansson as a Misfits-era Marilyn Monroe (high-waist dark denim and bright red lipstick)by Tara Subkoff. AND they have again come it seems. (As read on style.com)
And the pretty floral printed jumper is rocking the calculation. You look lovely Cauvery! :)
