THE FUN THEORY

yeah, that's my current obsession over the internet. Trying to get the cold out of sight and mind! *aaaccchhhheee!*

check out Fun Theory
Its an initiative by Volkswagen dedicated to the thought that something as simple as fun is the easiest way to change people’s behaviour for the better. Be it for yourself, for the environment, or for something entirely different, the only thing that matters is that it’s change for the better.

"Take the stairs instead of the escalator or elevator and feel better” is something we often hear or read in the Sunday papers. Few people actually follow that advice. Can we get more people to take the stairs over the escalator by making it fun to do? See the results here:

I have a total agreement with the Fun theory knowing the practical implementations of the same. With more an more of health disorders and environment pollution, the fun theory benefits both the humans and the environment. A much needed step for today!

SNOWFLAKES!

An avalanche begins with a snowflake!
by Joseph Compton

A bluffing white,
It flies as a merry kite!
The sky drizzles with them
showering translucent feelings beneath.Ho Ho Ho!
Pure amongst the cloud high!
oh god! I want to be so high!
oh god! I want to be so high!

A crystal very fragile, fancied by all the winter sheets!
This is an ode to freezing hands bare.
Ho Ho Ho!
My secret wish of despair!

THE INDIAN CHANEL!

Yet another story of amalgamation. And what’s more to ask when the inspiration is INDIA!

I feel like this is a next big trend to flourish in fashion. And there is so much to be inspired from. There is so much colour, so many stories, so many delicacies, plenty of natural panoramas, street markets to the glittering ornamented ceremonies, the festivals of light and colours and the illustrative tales of Gods and Goddesses. The quirkiness of bollywood to the monotony of traffic-y signals!

oh! I am in love!! <3

A picture I found browsing the other day shows what I am trying to say!

So, here’s something about the INDIAN CHANEL.

CHANEL

We all know Chanel. The French fashion house founded by Coco Chanel which gave us the casual elegance we flaunt in now! And the little black dress we fit in perfectly today! It was recently that I watched Coco before Chanel, a movie on Chanel’s life and how she turned Chanel from Coco. A must watch inspiration movie I say!

THE PARIS-BOMBAY PRE-AUTUMN/WINTER 2012-13 COLLECTION

Now Karl Lagerfeld looks after the brand and is indeed adding leads to the identity. Chanel recently unveiled its Paris-Bombay Metiers d’Art collection at the Grand Palais in Paris, where the place- Galerie Courbe was transformed into a luxurious Maharaja’s palace.

Every year since 2002, Chanel has used the Metiers d’Art show as an opportunity to showcase its craftsmanship. Under the glow of chandeliers and ceiling lights, this collection 2011/12 was supposed to evoke a new femininity.

According to Chanel, “The charm of India, the pomp and splendour of fabrics and the magic of gemstones intermingle with the Chanel aesthetic of cascading pearls, contrasting black and white, and braided tweed jackets,”

THE INDIAN INFLUENCE

Use of pearls, mirror work, jewelled bindis and buttons, payal, matha tika etc - the silver metallic jewellery, brocade fabric have been coordinated with leather boots, tweed dresses and western silhouettes. The artisanal crafts of embroidery, leather work, and feather work, boot-making, millinery, and gold and silversmithery, all worked with the finest of details and neatness. You just fall in love with the clothes and the accessories!

The silhouette emerges in soft shoulders, flared panelled skirts, a gold-embroidered tweed dress with kimono sleeves or painted with a flowerbed motif swaddled in layers of lace and muslin. The sari look is supposed to create a modern masculine-feminine concept, inspired by Maharajah style, and very feminine with a dainty jacket with diamante epaulettes.

GLITTER THIS WINTER!

With the coming of the yuletide, comes heaps of excitement for celebrating the festivals. Vacations[*some lucky ones*]/ Christmas/ New years day bring us in a mood of high spirits and enjoyment.
We are already celebrating the Secret Santa in office. Each person has a secret Santa chosen by name chits. And the Santa gives presents or writes poems or in any way makes the chosen person happy. And the Santa is revealed on the Christmas day. Fun aye! Well, I sent across a riddle today!

Much awaited are the parties! What to wear? How to ignore the chilly weather? How to accessorize.....

Some trends to follow while you get ready:

--Well, the colors and trends relate to the event. Winters are for dark and deeper hues, for dense and thick textures. You just need to tune these up to the party mode!

--White from snow, silver for the glitter, red to the Santa and the classic black as an all time fave! Add to them some play of color blocking and electricity. More of neon and more of glows!

--Accessories are must-must haves. Even a plain single color dress would show up the mood when the right accessories are carried on. Heavy, shiny, metallic and glittered necklaces, handcuffs, clutches and shoes with high heels are a thumbs up!

--And you all do have this basic color palette in your wardrobe.

--Also, electric shimmery colors and dresses do the magic for you.

--Maybe, sequined jackets to your plain dress would make it complete!

--Glittered leggings and bottoms in a variety of patterns make you ignore the winters. [* Anyways, who cares about the weather when you are partying! :p*] I recently got one snowflake pattern leggings! :D

--All you gotta do is some mix and match and accessorize.

Ta daa!

happy celebrations!

SCARF STYLES; SPOILT WINTERS!!

Winters have come and gone, you know!

BUT I'LL MEET YOU YOUNG AND FREE, FOR A DANCE 'ROUND THE MEMORY TREe...

FROM MOTH BY PEOPLE IN PLANES
SOURCE- tumblr..com

Days of cozy and lazy acts have arrived now! The days when instead of smiling at the sunshine in the mornings, you curse the early office/college timings! :s
And all you wish is to sleep under layers of sheets and hibernate till the temperature stops giving you those funky bumpy goose-pimples on the skin.

My personal fav comes to be the winter *ignoring the fact that I get cold often these days! :s*.  The best part is layering clothes one over the other ultimately showing off more colours out of yourself!
My colleagues at office have started calling me a mood-board these days! (A mood-board for the naives is a type of poster design that may consist of images, text, and samples of objects in a composition of the choice of the mood board creator. Designers and others use mood boards to develop their design concepts and to communicate to other members of the design team- wikipedia)

THE PROBLEM [*!@#$%^*]
Even while you love winters, you gotta admit that coordinating your look each time you dress up is tricky and monotonous!
A tee inside, thick denims/stalkings, a jacket over, cap maybe, boots or closed shoes and Scarves. But, you get bored soon. Cause, its the same style you carry with them everyday!

STILL [*peace*]
No matter what, we love winters! And we love dressing up for it just as much as we love having ice-creams this time!
So arrives the question of varying your styles each day!

THE SOLUTION! [*ting :D*]
Why not try it with scarves this winter?
An accessory to stark out your fashion need as well as the winter treat!
And so, I tried to share some different ways of wearing scarves!
Enjoii!

IT WASN’T THAT BAD AFTER ALL!

What goes around comes around! Seconds must have extinguished but moments don’t. Seems like a chalk and cheese phenomenon to me. A thought of loving your one time hates.
There were days when I didn’t feel like talking. Then, there were days when I could just not stop talking and realise later that those long walks were so small after all...I couldn’t even conclude what I started!
Our minds are so flimsy. They just need bait in the hook to be fetched by a thought! The fact is it is an omnipresent phenomenon. What draws attention to it is the change of the thought. Some to crest, some to trough!
When it’s all said and done, you realise, It wasn’t that bad after all!

IT IS A DEAL!

A TASK ALONG WITH IT:
Smile at a stranger. See what happens.
Patti LuPone

A much-awaited Saturday it was. Neglecting the fact that the day was working, it was not as hectic as the previous Saturdays were. Those times I could hardly sit on my chair and even check my mails. Forget about leaving office on time!
And so it was this Saturday where my formality towards my paid-job was nothing more than attending the office. Still, I got engrossed into my blogging research and stayed till 6-ish there. Made lists of doing things on Sunday. Read and re-read my months-held ideas to reciprocate! Amongst them was listed a task of starting to painting again. Hence, I decided to fetch a canvas for myself.

“Crosswords at Garuda should have canvases. I can just ignore the shopping stores on way and head only to crosswords and buy a canvas and straight away come back home where my room- redecoration is partly initiated!” (I broke the rule later and shopped for a pair of shoes and bottoms!)

Before all my thoughts get collected, comes this fashion trend amongst the auto-rickshaw people!

“Auto wale bhaiya, garuda jana hai!”
“Madam, bahut traffic hai. Rs. 80 lagega!”
I just made an angry face and went to the next rickshaw guy!
“Bhaiya, garuda mall jana hai! Kitna?”
“Madam Rs. 40 hoga!”
“(At least he is better than the previous rickshaw guy), nahi!”

“Excuse me, you are going to Garuda, we can share an auto. Do you mind?”
“(Who are you? Why do you think I will share an auto-rick with you?) ok, yeah sure! Why not! Good deal- 20 -20!”

Don’t run your minds thinking who this guy could be!

Her name was Saumya, a mid 20s woman with curly hair and a sober communication skill!
We sat in. And then, began the talks. Thanks to the traffic, we almost reached to exchanging phone numbers and staying in touch like forever! :P
A keralite (mallu) who got married to a TCS guy in bengaluru lived with her in-laws and husband in the army quarters near Garuda! Did her MBA from St. Josephs and now works as an HR in some tata something company! We chatted about the pathetic traffic and uneasy office hours, talked about her in-laws and parents later lightning it up to the backwaters of Kerala and all.

Meanwhile, I felt like I just found a target to shoot myself at! I spoke about my job, my living etiquettes (not completely though!), Bangalore love/lust (yet to be distinguished), the 20 something feeling, mania for blogging and some unknown issues! Dint feel like an alien issue. I have no idea why! Sometimes, it feels good to talk to strangers. Felt like I was in a trans! Between office and home! A secret meeting with a stranger in an auto-rickshaw with no strings attached, yet relieving stress! When in doubt of shouting at someone, target a stranger next time! :P
Its like a situation when you are not exactly saying what you mean to say but saying what you mean to understand. A small bubble-up moment to get away from the daily old lexicon and activities!

Just then, her mother in law called her up to get down at the brigade signal. I thought it was ok if she didn’t pay! Rather she said, “It was a deal.”
Handed me 20 bucks and left!
It was a good deal!

For, to be a stranger is naturally a very positive relation; it is a specific form of interaction.

TEAPOTS WITH A TWIST

British Silversmith David Clarke is known for re-creating the existing things with a twist.

RE-DECORATE; RE-FUNCTION; RE-APPROPRIATE; RE-DESIGN; RE-COMBINATION;
RE-DEFINE

All the original teapots are purchased from ebay, where clarke notes: 'I only bid on the most unwanted, most unloved; the ones closest to the [garbage] bin. I only buy the one that no one desires. I want to give them a new start in life, a second chance. they come to me; I study them, handle them; I cut them almost surgically, with precision, accuracy, and focus. at this point they are released from their history; they are free to start afresh.'

This recent series of modified teapots has been exhibited in  ornamentum gallery during miami design week 2011.

Cool! I would have painted them in quirky colors if I could buy any of these!
Recently in a flea market I saw those colorful teapots!
